On 6th of March 2025, the NESG launched the 2025 Private Sector Outlook rep=
ort themed "Nigeria's Private Sector in 2025: Adapting to Economic Uncertai=
nties for Growth and Resilience," highlighting key economic trends, challen=
ges, and opportunities for businesses navigating the evolving Nigerian econ=
omy. The event, jointly organized by the Corporate Affairs and Stakeholder =
Management Department and the Research and Development Department of NESG, =
provided insights into macroeconomic conditions and strategies for private =

On 28th of March 2025, the NESG held its Quarterly Media Interaction, where=
 our CEO, Dr. Tayo Aduloju, unveiled The Arc of the Possible=E2=80=94our bo=
ld new strategy for driving Nigeria=E2=80=99s economic development. With cl=
ear targets across key sectors in the short to medium term, this strategy u=
nderscores our commitment to actionable solutions that unlock growth and pr=
osperity.

On 26th of March 2025, the Belgian Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Pieter Leenk=
negt, visited the NESG Abuja office for an exclusive interview on NESGTV. T=
he discussion focused on "Unlocking New Frontiers in Belgium-Nigeria Relati=
ons," exploring opportunities for deeper economic ties, trade partnerships,=
 and mutual growth.

On 25th of March 2025, the NESG joined key stakeholders at the Stakeholders=
=E2=80=99 Validation Session on the Draft National Policy Development and M=
anagement Framework held at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential=
 Villa, Abuja. At the session, our CEO, Dr. Tayo Aduloju, emphasized the cr=
itical need for policy coherence and execution, noting that since 1999, sev=
en out of ten policies have failed to achieve full implementation.=C2=A0
=C2=A0

On 24th of March 2025, the NESG, led by our CEO, Dr. Tayo Aduloju, paid a c=
ourtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, to=
 engage in a high-level dialogue alongside distinguished directors from the=
 Federal Ministry of Education. The meeting underscored the urgent need for=
 strategic reforms to position education as a key driver of Nigeria=E2=80=
=99s economic transformation and emphasized the importance of stronger coll=
aboration between the public and private sectors

On 20th of March 2025, the NESG, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry=
 of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy and the United Nations Educ=
ational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), took a decisive ste=
p toward finalizing Nigeria=E2=80=99s National Policy on Culture by hosting=
 a Physical Drafting Exercise. This policy, last reviewed in 1988, has rema=
ined in draft form for over 37 years=E2=80=94despite its crucial role in sh=
aping Nigeria=E2=80=99s cultural and creative industries. The long-overdue =
review is a vital step toward unlocking new opportunities, attracting inves=
tment, and positioning culture as a key driver of national development.

On 20th of March 2025, the NESG paid a courtesy visit to the Federal Minist=
ry of Regional Development to present key findings from the 2025 Macroecono=
mic Outlook Report and discuss critical reform actions to enhance Nigeria=
=E2=80=99s economic trajectory.

On 13th of March 2025, the NESG and the United Nations Industrial Developme=
nt Organization (UNIDO) met to strengthen collaboration for sustainable and=
 inclusive industrial growth in Nigeria. A key highlight was UNIDO=E2=80=99=
s presentation of its Country Partnership Program (PCP) for Nigeria, a stra=
tegic framework aligned with the National Development Plan, SDGs, and the U=
N Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), set for signing i=
n April.

On 13th of March 2025, the NESG and the Food and Agricultural Organisation =
(FAO) of the United Nations Nigeria office, led by Country Representative D=
ominique Koffy Kouacou, held a pivotal meeting to chart a path toward a foo=
d-secure Nigeria. The discussions centered on innovative strategies to enha=
nce the accessibility, affordability, and availability of agricultural prod=
ucts, while driving transformative policy reforms and investments in modern=
 farming practices.

On 12th of March 2025, a delegation led by NESG board director, Mr Nnanna U=
de, visited the Ministry of Steel Development to explore opportunities for =
collaboration in advancing Nigeria=E2=80=99s industrial and economic growth=
. Hon. Minister Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu expressed appreciation to the =
NESG, the Permanent Secretary, and all stakeholders present, emphasizing th=
e Ministry=E2=80=99s readiness to collaborate in driving sustainable develo=
pment in Nigeria=E2=80=99s steel sector.

On 12th of March 2025, the NESG's Health Policy Commission General Assembly=
 brought together top policymakers, industry leaders, and healthcare expert=
s for a powerful conversation on transforming Nigeria=E2=80=99s healthcare =
system. As the nation navigates evolving health challenges, this hybrid eve=
nt served as a critical platform to discuss bold reforms and innovative sol=
utions aimed at building a stronger, more resilient healthcare sector.

On 12th of March 2025, a delegation from the NESG engaged in a high-level d=
iscussion with the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) Country Office del=
egation, led by Peter Engbo Rasmussen, Country Economist, to explore Nigeri=
a=E2=80=99s economic trajectory and identify opportunities for collaboratio=
n towards sustainable development.

On 11th of March 2025, the NESG, in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaf=
t f=C3=BCr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, hosted the Partnership=
 to Accelerate Global Energy Transition (PACT) for Nigeria, bringing togeth=
er key stakeholders to chart a bold course toward a sustainable, cleaner en=
ergy future.
From policy frameworks to innovative solutions, the discussions underscored=
 the urgent need for collaboration in unlocking opportunities that will dri=
ve Nigeria=E2=80=99s transition to renewable energy, energy efficiency, and=
 climate resilience.

On 7th of March 2025, the NESG hosted an exclusive breakfast meeting at The=
 Summit House with Mr. Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of the United Nati=
ons Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and key Nigerian busin=
ess leaders. The discourse centered on the role of the private sector in ad=
vancing climate action, mobilising green investments, and unlocking opportu=
nities within Nigeria=E2=80=99s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) 3=
.0.

On 7th of March 2025, the NESG paid a courtesy visit to the Group Managing =
Director of First HoldCo Plc, Mr. Wale Oyedeji, and his management team. Th=
e engagement reaffirmed the importance of institutional partnerships in dri=
ving macroeconomic stability, financial sector resilience, and sustainable =
economic growth.

On 5th of March 2025, the NESG paid a courtesy visit to the Group Managing =
Director of Zenith Bank Plc, Dame (Dr) Adaora Umeoji, alongside Executive D=
irectors Mr Henry Oroh and Mrs Adaobi Nwapa. The NESG delegation, led by ou=
r CEO, Dr Tayo Aduloju, engaged in a robust discourse with the bank=E2=80=
=99s leadership, focusing on the evolving dynamics of economic reform, priv=
ate sector leadership, and the imperative of sustainable development.=C2=A0

On 5th of March 2025, the NESG hosted Prof. Adeola Adenikinju, President of=
 the The Nigerian Economic Society (NES), at the Summit House. He was warml=
y received by our CEO, Dr. Tayo Aduloju, as we engaged in thought-provoking=
 discussions on the work of the NES and explored pathways to deepen collabo=
ration.

On 4th of March 2025, the NESG had the distinct privilege of hosting Ms Git=
a Gopinath, First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fu=
nd, for a high-level engagement with Nigeria=E2=80=99s leading fintech exec=
utives. This dialogue provided a critical platform for examining the evolvi=
ng dynamics of the global economy, the disruptive influence of technology, =
and the strategic imperatives for shaping the future of work in an increasi=
ngly digitalised world.

On 2nd of March 2025, the NESG engaged with the United Nations High Commiss=
ioner for Refugees Nigeria (UNHCR) for an in-depth discussion on Nigeria=E2=
=80=99s economic trajectory, anchored on our 2025 Macroeconomic Outlook Rep=
ort themed "Stabilisation in Transition: Rethinking Reform Strategies for 2=
025 and Beyond." The NESG team explored critical reform strategies, investm=
ent opportunities, and policies to drive economic stability and growth. A k=
ey focus was on Human Capital Development at the subnational level and leve=
raging Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) to create sustainable, self-relian=
t solutions for long-term impact.

On 13th March 2025, the NESG MSME CoP held its General Assembly to set the =
agenda for the year, highlight the impact of previous initiatives by the Co=
P and propose strategies for the future.=C2=A0

On 18th of March 2025, the NESG Youth Community of Practice (CoP) held its =
General Assembly to have structured conversation around the thematic work p=
lans and provide an opportunity for members to contribute meaningfully to s=
haping the direction of the CoP.

On 25th of March 2025, the NESG Trade, Investment, and Competitiveness Poli=
cy Commission held its General Assembly to strengthen trade, investment & c=
ompetitiveness, fiscal policy planning and supply chain logistics in Nigeri=
a through a comprehensive approach premised on effective policy reforms.

The NESG-Stanbic IBTC Business Confidence Monitor (BCM) is the flagship sur=
vey-based report of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), supported by=
 Stanbic IBTC. Businesses in Nigeria reported a sustained improvement in pe=
rformance for the second consecutive month in 2025, signalling favourable b=
usiness conditions in the year. As a result, the current Business Performan=
ce Index for February 2025 stands at +11.50, reflecting a rise in business =
activities and a moderate improvement compared to +5.69 points in January 2=
025.Businesses faced significant growth challenges this month, with foreign=
 exchange constraints, inadequate power supply, unclear economic policies, =

External trade climbed to a record high in 2024, attributed to exchange rat=
e depreciation. The country recorded an external trade value of N138 trilli=
on in 2024, rising significantly from N66.8 trillion in 2023. The sharp ris=
e in the external trade value in 2024 reflects the impact of the Naira depr=
eciation.

The official exchange rate averaged N1,479.6/US$ in 2024, rising from N645.=
2/US$ in 2023. On a quarterly basis, the value of external trade stood at N=
36.6 trillion in 2024Q4, jumping from N21.7 trillion in 2023Q4 and N35.8 tr=
